Real Madrid v. LA Galaxy

July 16, 2011 – Real Madrid travelled to the United States to participate in the World Football Challenge against MLS and Mexican teams.  I took a trip out to Los Angeles to catch their game against the LA Galaxy at the LA Coliseum.  I had never been to the Coliseum before, but I remember watching the Olympic opening ceremonies there in 1984, so it was really cool to get to shoot a game in such a historic venue.  The game ended with Real Madrid winning 4-1 on goals from Callejon, Joselu, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema.  Hope you like the pictures.

Dallas Cup XXXII

I had the opportunity to shoot the Dallas Cup again this year.  It features some of the best youth players from all over the world.  This year the Gordon Jago Super Group consisted of teams from some of the best youth academies in the world including Arsenal from England, Barcelona from Spain and Corinthians from Brazil as well as the highly rated academy team of FC Dallas.  Despite their high profile, non of those teams made it to the final game, and Tigres from Mexico and Eintracht Frankfurt from Germany were named co-champions after a 1-1 game was called due to weather.

Armed Forces Bowl – SMU v. Army 12-30-2010

The Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl moved from Fort Worth to Dallas this year as TCU’s Amon Carter Stadium undergoes renovations.  This year’s game at SMU’s Ford Stadium featured the Army Black Knights and the SMU Mustangs.  A record crowd of 36,742 watched as Army prevailed 16-14.

TCU v. Oregon State

I shot the TCU v. Oregon State game at Cowboys Stadium on Saturday, September 4, 2010.  I was there to get shots of the TCU cheerleaders, but managed to get some shots of the game too.

Jordan – Sports Illustrated Cheerleader of the Week June 24, 2010

I was lucky enough to get a chance to shoot some of the cheerleaders and Showgirls from TCU for si.com’s Cheerleader of the Week feature.  It was a long day of shooting, but we got some decent pictures and Jordan was picked as Cheerleader of the Week on si.com on June 24, 2010.  Here is a link to the pictures:  http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedia/photo_gallery/1006/campus.cheer.tcu.jordan/content.1.html

Here are some pictures from the shoot.  Some of these were used by SI, but some were not.  Hope you like them.

Playing with HDR

I have been experimenting with HDR images lately.  I am really liking the over the top HDR processing that makes the images almost look like a painting.  I know it isn’t everyone’s favorite, but I’m liking it right now.

For those of you that don’t know, HDR imaging is a process of taking multiple images of the same subject and then combining those images into one.  You can take anywhere from 3-7 images of the same subject and then combine them.  This is a really basic explanation, but generally, you take one photo at “normal” exposure and then you take some over and some underexposed shots.  When you combine the images into one it gives you a full range of colors and you get all of the shadows and highlights from all of the images.  Then you use a software program to “tonemap” the image to bring out the colors and give it its final look.  I was using Photomatix, but I have found a new software called Dynamic Photo HDR that I like a little more.

Amanda – Sports Illustrated Cheerleader of the Week – December 24, 2009

I was lucky enough to be allowed to shoot an SMU pom squad member, Amanda Green, for Cheerleader of the Week feature for Sport Illustrated.  The feature was put on on si.com on December 24, 2009 to coincide with the SMU football team’s first bowl game appearance in 25 years in the Hawaii Bowl.  You can see the pictures and Amanda’s 20 questions at the following site:  http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/extramustard/12/22/cheerleader.of.the.week/index.html.  Here are some of my favorite pictures (some of which didn’t make it on si.com) and some outtakes.  I hope you like them.
